1. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Crop Science or Agronomy
2. Experience and competencies:
a. Considerable experience in teaching and research in a university environment in the science/agronomy of tropical food crops; evidence of publications in refereed scientific journals is required.
b. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in field and protected production systems, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, especially for weeds, on-farm participatory research and on-line teaching.
c. Demonstration of the capacity to develop key areas of research and new courses/programmes will be an asset.
3. Special responsibilities
a. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of agronomy of tropical food crops, weed science, including both direct and distance delivery modes
b. Conduct relevant research and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students
in areas of competence

c. Participate in cross-disciplinary research projects
d. Participate in out-reach activities in the agricultural sector
e. Perform related duties assigned by the Head of Department
